Overview

KPV is a short synthetic research peptide composed of the amino-acid sequence L-Lysine-L-Proline-L-Valine. It corresponds to residues 11–13 at the C-terminal region of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), providing a compact experimental model for investigating peptide structure-function relationships.

Scientific investigation has focused on understanding how a three-amino-acid fragment can retain distinct biological signalling characteristics associated with a substantially larger parent peptide.
